Hello again 😊 Did you think I already forgot about this blog??
I know I missed posting last week, and for that, I deeply apologize! I actually had a few house issues pop up—one huge thing that I’ve been trying to get resolved since December and then one brand new huge thing that’s unfortunately even more inconvenient than the last one. Because of these matters, I had to put off blogging for a bit, but I have some time right now in between all the chaos to get a post ready. So, that’s what I’m doing 😊 It’s just a simple, little piece: a look at my most favorite outfit of last year. But after the complexity of last post…less content may be appreciated.
Originally, I wanted to cover all my favorite outfits from last year, for even though I haven’t been blogging and also haven’t been on social media that much, I’ve still been documenting my life and taking pictures of everything I wear, so I have record of all my favorite outfits from the last few years safely tucked away for a rainy day. But trying to post them all quickly grew out of control, so I reigned it in and decided to just showcase my absolute favorite fit for now, then share the rest later if I have the time, potentially with each new season.
So, without further ado, here’s my most beloved outfit from 2024.
Fave Outfit of 2024

Funnily enough, even though it’s my favorite, I don’t have many pictures of it, and that’s because I was too busy having fun to remember to ask for some snaps before it got dark. Above is the only full-body angle I have, and since it’s a little hard to see exactly what’s so special about this outfit in that shot, here are some other details to give you a better idea of it:

I loved this outfit because it was slightly out of my comfort zone while also being completely me. The pops of vibrant, scarlet red against the muted, gray-toned denim felt so classic and elegant yet simultaneously so fresh and fun (thanks to the rugged vs dressy contrast), and the metallic finish on the red Mary Jane’s only added to that. I’ve had these shoes for several years now—a birthday gift from my sister sometime around 2020—and while Mary Jane’s weren’t that popular back then, I’ve always personally loved them. Now, this style of shoe is all the rage, but it’s not too often you see a bright-red, metallic pair. So, the slightly unique flair to this somewhat overdone, trending classic made it feel a little less copy-cat and even more adorable.

I also loved the ascot. Never in my life was I an ascot lady, but while visiting my in-laws in their country back in April, I unfortunately picked up a horrible flu on the flight over and spent all but three days of the two-week trip extremely ill. The whole time, my mother-in-law made me keep an ascot tied around my neck, as the traditional medical practices over there insist that one must keep the neck constantly warm if they have a cough or sore throat, and it was then, in the throws of my sickness, that I realized how flattering ascots are on me. So, after never having worn or owned one my entire life, I ended up spending two weeks straight with different ones tied around my neck, then brought four home as souvenirs. The one in these photos is one of those souvenirs, and I take any excuse to wear it. A cute, tiny scarf is a somewhat unexpected yet not completely outrageous way to elevate an outfit, and if you’ve never tried wearing an ascot, I highly recommend taking one for a spin. Worse comes to worst, you hate it and can just keep it tied to one of your purses.

The last reason this is my favorite outfit is the maxi dress. I’ve always adored maxis but used to hesitate to wear them because they were heavily associated with bohemian style until recently, meaning many maxi skirts and dresses used to only come in very beachy or psychedelic patterns, and as you can probably guess, that’s not my personal taste. My own style is rather classic and preppy, with a teeny twist of sporty funk, and it wasn’t until recently, maybe over the last five years, that maxis started to be produced in more classic, preppy styles. Basically, maxi skirts and dresses became mainstream again (thanks, 1990’s/Y2K resurgence), and their popularity has made me finally able to get my hands on the frilly, long dresses and skirts of my dreams, like the black one you see above. I believe my sister gifted it to me for my birthday in 2022, and I’ve worn it to death since. And will continue to wear it to death. Until the fabric literally crumbles. It’s the perfect, tiered, cupcake-like sheath without literally looking like a cake, and even if maxis go out of style again, I will definitely never stop wearing this. Or ones like it. Now that I know they’re possible, I simply can’t let go.
And that’s all! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this, and I hope this little fit was able to give you some inspiration for your own wardrobe this week. I also hope to see you back here again for my next post, but in the meantime, stay well, stay happy, and remember: They need us overconsuming to keep us broke, and they need us divided to keep us controlled 😊
Until next time ❤
