Hi, everyone! Long time no see!!
If you couldn’t already tell due to the lack of postings as of late, school had been really, really rough, which is why I haven’t been able to keep up on here. I mean, as much as I want to just drop out and blog 24/7, I can’t. Priorities.
Ugh, being an adult sucks.
So forgive me for slacking! I’m going to try my hardest to keep content up, posting whenever I have the chance, but if there’s another 20-day lapse in postings, well, don’t say you weren’t warned! Because this time, you were 😉
A brief update, though, before we get into the heart of things:
- I’m officially writing for a hockey magazine and will be receiving my press pass any day now (wot). I’ve already written a few things, so if you want to check them out, click here!
- This weekend, the university newspaper I’m an editor for kind of (okay, legitimately) broke national (and international) news with a staff editorial on some nasty remarks our university president said in a private faculty meeting. It was pretty darn cool for us nerdy aspiring journalists. If you like, read about it here.
- The leaves are changing and falling, and it’s the best thing ever.
- I am genuinely happy about everything in my life right now, even despite all the hubbub, hustle, and bustle. It’s great.
- I’m eating frozen peanut butter cups, which is also great.
- I really want to start dressing like a Divided girl aka trap queen (shouts to H&M).
.
That last one was a complete lie, just so you know.
Anyway, speaking of H&M, back in September, the store relaunched its entire makeup collection, adding new products and colors as well as completely redesigning all packaging, making the cosmetics finally look like they’re made for grown women rather than their seven-year-old daughters who just so happen to be shopping with them.
I predict sales will boom.
Well, I ended up buying two things: a lipstick in the shade Last Tango and an eyeliner in the shade Terroir. With the expectations of the old line in mind (because I was an H&M makeup connoisseur), I set out to do a review. And about a month later, here it is!
Please enjoy the following remarks on what I have to say about the products. BUT please keep in mind that even though I am an employee of the company, nothing is sponsored, and every word I have both already said and am about to say is my own.
H&M may write my paychecks, but it will never control me!
H&M Makeup Relaunch Review
Lipstick (Last Tango, $9.99 on hm.com)-
First of all, the new packaging is GORGEOUS. H&M absolutely nailed it with the redesign.
As for the color, it’s also gorgeous, but it looks absolutely NOTHING like what is pictured on the website, so that was disappointing.
It’s a bit too summery for now, but in six months when the heat rolls around again, I know I’ll be wearing it a lot. So I guess that helps curb my anger.
Below is a small swatch:
The payoff and pigmentation is brilliant. Absolutely nothing changed quality-wise from the old collection to the new, which is wonderful. H&M makeup (more specifically lipstick) is my most favorite of all time, so it’s nice to know that things are still good.
Now for the color on my lips:
Please excuse the hormone-driven chin breakout.
This is how it looks applied completely normally (as in taking the stick and swiping it all around your lips). It is creamy and smooth and very easy to apply. It doesn’t bleed and lasts for a fairly decent amount of time, maybe six-ish hours. Basically, it didn’t budge until I started eating, so it probably has the potential to last even longer, too.
All in all, it’s a great color for spring and summer, and it’s definitely a reason to go online and buy all the of other shades available. I would do it, too, if I didn’t already own 80 percent of the old ones…
Eyeliner (Terroir, $5.99 on hm.com)-
This is a deep brown eyeliner, and it has made me once again believe in smudging sticks of dark, solidified chemicals around my eyes.
I don’t know if I’ve ever talked about this on here, but ever since Buxom discontinued its old eyeliner collection and thus the best eyeliner ever (Chocolate Citrine), I haven’t been able to find a product that goes on smoothly, is pigmented, is deep brown, and is smudge-proof.
Until this bad boy, that is ❤
I don’t even have the words to tell you how in love I am with this product. It’s just so good. I can barely believe it exists.
See the swatch in three, two:
That line is one swipe. ONE swipe. And what I forgot to take a picture of was what it looked like ten minutes later after I tried to wipe — and then scrub — it off my hand with my fingers.
The same, friends. It looked exactly the same.
Here’s me after 16 hours of wearing it (yes, 16 hours):
I put it on ONCE at 8am. I didn’t reapply it at all during the day. I took the pictures a little after midnight when I got home.
INCREDIBLE. H&M, you’re just incredible.
Thank you for making me believe in love once again ❤
Buy these eyeliners, friends. BUY THEM.
Here is what the two products look like on together, by the way:
They really are wonderful and beautiful, and I highly, highly, highly recommend getting them. Just as long as they aren’t sold out, of course (because they’re going like crazy, harrumph).
Speaking of that, please note: H&M cosmetics will no longer be available for purchase in every store in the US. Only flagships stores (and I think some of the other larger ones, too) will have the new line in stock. Everywhere else, though, will sell no makeup once the old stuff is gone, which means that the majority of you will only be able to purchase online.
See why it’s selling out so quickly??
Welllp, that’s all for now! Thanks so much for reading, and I hope this helped.
Until next time! ❤
