Hi, all, and Happy Labor Day!
I celebrated my working self this morning by shooting a flat lay of the outfit I will wear to a family picnic this afternoon.
I don’t have pictures of myself wearing the outfit yet, but in the meantime, I wanted to post the flat lay just because 😁
I was looking for the perfect outfit to wear to a picnic and was struggling. I hate shorts, but it’s hot out, which makes shorts necessary. I don’t have many tops that pair well with shorts, for I mostly own super cropped tanks that I wear with very high-waisted bottoms. And none of my shorts are very high-waisted.
So it was a struggle to come up with this! But after much thinking, I realized that being cool and comfy is the most important thing for a picnic.
So I settled for my comfiest shorts and breeziest blouse. Thankfully, they look lovely together ☺️
The unfortunate thing about these pieces is that they’re both a little oversized. So I have to belt them, or else I will be eaten alive by my clothes and look like a sac of potatoes.
For shoes, I decided to go with a cute pair of white, lace-up sneakers that have a glitter detail at the heel. The glitter has specs of green, so it ends up tying in to the outfit quite nicely.
And you may be questioning why I chose high socks. To be honest, that’s just a personal thing. I pretty much only wear high socks, because they flatter my calves best (when I wear them scrunched up around my ankles).
I have big calves. Gotta do what I gotta do 🤷♀️
And finally, I went for dainty gold jewelry with pops of green to add a little interest while also not overwhelming the outfit itself, because I believe the outfit is the centerpiece in this case.
The bag, though, I just couldn’t resist. I LOVE this bag. My sister recently gave it to me for my birthday, and it’s literally the best. Thank you, Bekah 💕
It honestly works perfectly here. The green matches the blouse exactly, and the pink adds a unique twist that also ties into the glitter in the shoes.
And of course, since it’s a flat lay, I had to include some of the cosmetics I will be using: my favorite perfume from Fresh, my favorite lotion from Bath & Body Works (don’t judge), and my favorite lip balm, which is Smith’s Rosebud Salve.
